Matchplay Series Categories

- UTR 2.5-4.5: Primarily for our current A2 players
- UTR 4.5 & above: Primarily for our current P1 players
Divisions
From these categories, we have created three divisions:
- A1/Green Ball: Players in this division will play with green balls
- A2: Players in this division will play with yellow balls
- P1: Players in this division will play with yellow balls
Further Details
- Each division will accept only 8-12 players
- Players in each division will be grouped into pools of 4
- Each player will play a total of 3 matches over 2 weeks (as per UTR guidelines)
- Results will be entered into the UTR portal, providing a verified rating
- To attain a more accurate rating, each player is required to play at least 8 matches
- Winners will only be determined in a tournament format based on a knockout system, similar to SPEX tournaments
Please note that the draw, including the grouping of players, is auto-generated by the UTR system to ensure transparency and impartiality.
Matchplay Series Schedule
Throughout the year, we will schedule dozens of matchplay series, with a new series expected every fortnight. Regular engagement in matches and tournaments is essential for gaining match experience and intelligence, in addition to lessons that help players hone their skills.
UTR Matches offer a more accurate assessment. For instance, if a player competes closely with a higher-seeded player, their rating will reflect this, even if they lose. Conversely, a significant score difference (e.g., 6-0, 6-1) will indicate a considerable disparity between the winner and the loser. The number of matches played does not directly impact a player’s UTR rating, as it is performance-based rather than volume-based.
When you participate in a UTR matchplay created by us, you are guaranteed a best-of-three sets match using yellow balls.
In many developed tennis nations, such as the USA and Australia, the UTR rating is a benchmark for admission to educational institutions. We anticipate a similar practice in our local scene in due course.
